Epieos is an Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) tool that specializes in reverse email and phone number lookups to uncover an individual's digital footprint across numerous online platforms. Primarily serving professionals in cybersecurity, law enforcement, and investigative journalism, the service scans over 140 websites and social networks to link a piece of contact information to associated profiles. This allows users to aggregate publicly available data, including usernames, social media accounts, and online activities, creating a detailed personal profile from a single starting point. The exposure of this consolidated information presents significant privacy risks, as it simplifies the process for malicious actors to conduct doxxing, stalking, harassment, or identity theft by easily mapping out a person's online presence. Although Epieos states it does not log its users' searches, the data it reveals is sourced from what individuals have shared publicly. To mitigate such risks, it is crucial for individuals to minimize the personal information they share on public profiles and to actively seek removal from data broker databases.
